Greenback Expat Tax Services Mercadeo En cualquier sitio full_time about 14 hours

Tipo de trabajo: full_time Compañia: Greenback Expat Tax Services

Headquarters: Remote
URL: https://www.greenbacktaxservices.com/

Greenback Expat Tax Services is a company that specializes in preparing tax returns for Americans living overseas. We are a highly energetic, positive, resourceful team working virtually across the globe. We believe that executional excellence is the key to success. We are currently seeking a Director of Marketing that can manage our new customer acquisition and customer experience end to end for the business.

This role will have three direct reports: Marketing Operations Manager, Marketing Product Manager, and New Customer Acquisition + Brand Manager, as well as freelance specialists in areas of web development, design, SEO, etc.

What You Will Do:

In collaboration with the CEO and the COO/Integrator, and supported by a high energy and talented team, the Director of Marketing will be 100% in charge of all the marketing activities for our business. You’d be responsible for crafting and then executing against marketing campaigns that help us acquire new customers and retain them year over year. If that sounds like a challenge that excites you, read on!

Using a mix of tried-and-tested practices, your creative ideas, and digital marketing prowess, the Director of Marketing will create marketing campaigns to help us GROW! Our current growth is already impressive, so imagine what you can do at the helm! The types of channels we use now are SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, webinars, PR, and partnerships. You need to not only be able to constantly tweak and improve on what we already do but also think bigger - looking for ways to really stand out and above a crowded landscape of tax preparers and find a way to make the Greenback brand shine and really strut our stuff, to show expats why we’re the best tax preparer in the market!

Your Qualifications:

You LOVE and admire brand strategy and marketing!
  • You’d be the brand advocate, ensuring that Greenback as a business is widely known and recognized as the most loved and admired US expat tax preparer firm. This means not just having a beautiful, high performing website, and exemplary presence on social media and across the web, but also ensuring we are constantly adding value to the expat community and contributing as good global citizens.

Inbound marketing comes naturally to you- you know funnels, buyer personas, and geek out on using data to always be improving.
  • Attract traffic to our site and our brand.
  • Convert that site traffic into new leads, prospects, or registrations, depending on what stage of the marketing funnel they are in.
  • Nurture that interest into paid customers.
  • Ensure that their experience is first class from the moment they begin tax prep with us to the day their return is filed with the IRS.
  • Rinse and repeat!

You can execute with grace, juggling multiple channels, freelancers, and team members without breaking a sweat.
  • Great ideas are one thing, but excellence in execution is what makes them generate value. You are someone who can execute via others or on your own, who can motivate a team of employees and freelancers, who can hire and manage freelance talent, and can make things happen.

You’re a technical genius and organized to a fault.
  • You’ll spend a lot of time making things happen in Salesforce, Marketing Automation platforms, WordPress, and measuring it all via Google Analytics. We as a business embrace data and love measurement (things that measured get managed), so you’d need to not just be out there making things happen, but also be able to manage a budget, to a set of KPIs and always be using data to make decisions and improvements.

You’re independent, a team player, and like a challenge.
  • We’re looking for someone who’s a great fit for our company culture. We’re a small, tight-knit team, all of us working remotely from home offices. We’re growing fast (check us out on the INC 5000 list - woohoo!). We’re obsessive about customer experience, believe that planning is the key to success, and like to work hard and make things happen, but also live our lives outside of the (home) office too! We’re looking for someone who is confident, reliable, an excellent communicator, loves working in a fast-paced team, and is able to get things done with minimal supervision (we don’t like looking over your shoulder and don’t think you’d like that either).

You’re excited to get under the skin of our customer's needs (US taxes and living abroad).
  • We don’t expect you to be an accountant (and in fact, don’t want that, you need to think like our customers), but you will need to learn and become a subject matter expert on US expat taxes. Similarly, you need to be able to put yourself in the shoes of our customers, expats who have a broad range of emotions about living abroad (Excited? Nervous? Miss home? Love to travel!) but all are universally frustrated and confused by their expat tax obligations.

Time zone: we’re looking for someone who is in a fixed time zone +/- 3 hours from EST. We’re not looking for long term travelers/people who aren’t in the same time zone most of the year.

What We Offer:
  • The opportunity for you to work with highly talented, communicative, make-it-happen people who also love adventures.
  • A seat on our leadership team long term.
  • Very generous time-off policy - in 2020, we have 16 company paid holidays and a take-what-you-need policy on time off.
  • 4 weeks of Paid Parental Leave at 100% of your salary!
  • We have an excellent benefits package that includes a 401k plan (with company match), medical, vision, and dental coverage (We pay 75% of your premium), and short term disability (We cover 100% of the cost)!
  • This role will work hand in hand with the CEO/COO, so you’ll get lots of access to mentorship.
  • Annual team trip (this year: San Diego, last year: Playa del Carmen, Mexico)

About Greenback:
Greenback makes life better for Americans living abroad and aims to take away the anxiety and hassle of helping US expats become and stay compliant with their US taxes while overseas.

Company Values:
  • We cherish feedback and consider it a gift to each other and from our customers.
  • We build trust by providing a painless tax preparation experience that our customers can’t help but tell their friends, family, and expat communities about us.
  • We make decisions quickly and effectively using data with customer needs always in the forefront of our minds.
  • We strive for simplicity and seek to continually improve processes both internally and externally.
  • We think and strategize like a large company while maintaining the heart, passion, and pace of a small company.
  • We understand that expat taxes are not one size fits all and provide confidence to our customers through our deep expertise in expat tax.
  • We believe that detailed planning and flawless execution are critical for a smooth-running operation.
  • We hold ourselves to the highest standards and we are accountable for the success of our role within the business. Being accountable includes an obligation to make things better, to pursue excellence, and to do things in ways that further the goals of the business.
  • We approach each day and the new challenges it brings with a positive attitude, an open mind, and a can-do spirit! We celebrate and honor each other's contributions proactively.

Electricity And Gas Learning Engines (EAGLE) - A truly Digital & AI first Green Energy Supply Company

About you:
Beyond the technical skills listed below, you must be someone looking for something meaningful in the next 5 years of your life. You should have a desire to see your work make an impact in moving humanity forward. At the same time, you should be eager to explore applying software technology to a foundational industry which is huge but technologically laggard, with the hope of changing it forever. Your expertise in bringing cutting-edge approaches to the table will be valued. You will probably need to deep dive into the field of machine learning-driven software engineering, guided by the Founders and Advisors that have strong knowledge of both these areas.

Your strengths/capabilities:
You are a really good engineer. Your fundamental knowledge is strong. You enjoy solution design, and are adept at translating architectural visions into working, high-quality software. You can easily spot good code from bad, and don’t trade your principles away easily. You have exposure to:
  • Different programming paradigms and software design and architecture approaches with a focus on functional and Object Oriented programming.
  • Common design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
  • A variety of language ecosystems, including but not limited to, Python, JS/TypeScript/ECMAscript and PHP.
  • A variety of database technologies SQL & NoSQL.
  • A variety of application servers like Nginx, Apache, Node.js etc.
  • Multiple cloud vendors and their services (AWS, Azure and GCP)
  • Kubernetes.
  • CI-CD and other DevOps processes.
It's good to have exposure to:
  • Mobile software development ecosystems like Android, iOS, Hybrid etc.
  • ML stacks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn etc.
  • ML algorithms like SVMs, Tree based algorithms, Neural Networks etc.
  • System security principles and secure development practices.

  • Your exposure includes domains and approaches that are business-critical for us. We foresee a central role for machine learning, process automation, big data, and multi-tenancy in our business plans. Ideally, you have worked with most or all of these concerns. Your deep knowledge of the various design patterns, techniques, libraries, resources, and tooling, allows you to make well-informed decisions. We also believe in a problem-led, iterative, product-centric approach. Ideally, you have spent your career working on empowered, cross-functional product teams, and intimately understand the model of collaboration involved.
  • You have walked the scale-up phase of the growth journey. You can foresee the challenges that typically accompany business growth. You are well-versed in strategies and approaches that prepare a system for eventual scaling needs. You understand the importance of issues such as latency, quality, reliability, security, observability, modularity, high availability, and know how to ensure these are accounted for when implementing software.
  • You value best practices and are intentional in what you do. You constantly stay up-to-date on evolutions in concepts, approaches, methods, systems/tooling, processes, etc. in your field. You are deliberate in fitting these solutions to the problems that your team/organisation is facing. As a matter of habit, you conscientiously measure and evaluate the effectiveness of your choices.
  • You enjoy growing people and building teams. You know what defines a top-grade engineer and you know the pathways to get there. You are able to use day-to-day tasks and interactions as occasions to mentor and develop high-value skills. You can spot and assess opportunities for learning and personal development. You get team dynamics and want to create an environment where people learn from one another, continually push the boundaries, and enjoy coming to work.

Who will you work with?
You are the first real permanent member in the software engineering team and will lead it. You will report to the Founder and Advisors, and work closely with the Chief Products Officer on product strategy and implementation.

In the first couple of years, a fully-fledged product team will be built around you, with additional engineers reporting to you, a product owner to set product direction, and contributors from UI/UX, data science, operations, etc. as needed.

The next 5 years:
The founding team is still evaluating various possible strategic directions (and would love any input you have!) Once strategic clarity is established, we will undertake a series of technology proof-of-concept projects based on use cases that have been validated, before moving on to the long-term foundations of our platform. Fundamentally, we intend to re-build the electricity retailer in the first 18-24 months, using a “99.9% digital” paradigm.

Subsequently, we will experiment with the real game changers in a new world empowered by the internet-of-things, further renewables penetration, and advancements in multiple intersecting industries, especially electric vehicles (EV) usage. That’s where the fun is.

What you will do:
You are engineer number 1, hired to build a software engineering function in your image. You report to the founding CTO, and work closely with the CPO and CEO on product strategy and implementation. Over the first couple of years, a fully-fledged product team will be formed, with engineers, a product owner, and contributors e.g. UI/UX, DS, ops, etc. as needed.

Your specific responsibilities for the first 18 months are likely to include:

Building your team
  • Setting up the dev environment (processes + tools + internal systems), i.e. setting standards and best practices for dev ops, testing, monitoring, etc.
  • Devising a style guide/design patterns, standards for code evaluation, etc.
  • Working with product to develop and refine a project management/delivery model, and to implement and iterate on the daily processes that serve this model
  • Defining a competency model for engineers
  • Assessing hiring needs for engineering, then planning and executing a hiring plan
  • Growing your engineers (and measuring that growth)
  • Taking the engineering function’s seat at the table, ensuring representation in all strategic contexts (e.g. roadmap prioritisation, budgeting, collaboration models)

Building the product
  • Designing the platform’s foundational architecture according to attribute-based priorities provided by the product/business, including the selection of languages, frameworks, libraries, etc.
  • Executing high-level prototypes to establish the viability and value of selected high-importance interventions/concepts
  • Managing and supervising the design and implementation of all product features
  • Ensuring quality of code, of system, and of all technical aspects of the product
  • Contributing to strategic decisions (e.g. buy-build) by performing the relevant system analysis, evaluations, design/planning, etc.
After the first 18 months, the intention is to do more of the first list and less of the second. You should bear this in mind from day one.

Where will you be based?
You can be based at a location of your preference and convenience for the next 24 months as the company has agreed to work remotely due to COVID situation.

Let’s talk about money:
Between US$40,000 to US$80,000 cost to the company is the budgeted range. Payment procedure will be that you raise a monthly invoice inclusive of taxes if any, and it's paid by bank international transfer.

Assessment process:
  • Paper submission may include a CV, a portfolio of past work, links to a working product you helped build, etc.
  • A technical assessment round (multiple interviews) will include a case study which is not based on the product we want to build, but which focuses on the competencies outlined above
  • A final assessment with the Founder on business side to assess fit with personal ambitions
  • References to include someone who directly managed you, and someone whom you managed or mentored.

How to apply?
You can email the founder, Nitin, directly. Besides the resume, any portfolio of previous work you can share publicly, like on Github or Playstore, will be appreciated. His personal email address is n.tanwar.06@cantab.net.

By the way in case you haven't noticed till now-

About the start-up:
We are currently in stealth mode. The start-up shall operate in the energy sector to push humanity towards a zero carbon world by advancing green electricity consumption and zero emissions mobility. The vision of the start-up is to supply as much green electricity as possible at near zero prices, so that the majority of humankind can affordably enjoy abundant energy - including for transport - without the environmental, ethical, and geopolitical challenges of today.

The start-up envisions leveraging new-age software engineering, product design, and artificial intelligence approaches to achieve its aims. It needs to solve several currently unknown and first-of-its-kind problems in the electricity ecosystem, and the core team believes these are solvable using a software-first, energy-second approach. The energy industry is traditionally a laggard in technology adoption, and hence continues to under-fulfil its potential in climate change mitigation, and this must not be the case in 2030. We are betting on being the first truly software-centric energy supply company to achieve this, thus setting a benchmark for global industry to follow.

About the people:
The start-up is founded by entrepreneurs in their mid-30s with strong energy and software industry resumes. Some of the Founders are Indian nationals. The founding team previously worked together to build enterprise machine learning SaaS ventures in the climate change and renewable energy industry, both now acquired by larger companies. The pedigree of the Founders and Advisors is from University of Cambridge, Imperial College and University of Oxford besides top Indian engineering schools.

Applicants in UTC-7 and UTC-5 timezones (e.g. Mexico, Chile, Brazil) are preferred.
What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a savvy support specialist. With your teammates, you’ll be the helping hand that users can count on.
When you join our customer success team, we’ll help you learn all the nooks and crannies of one of our products so that you can confidently help our users grow with us. Having a curiosity for how social media works is something we really value, but above all - you should love helping people.
If you love helping customers succeed, and think that customer success is all about conversations, understanding needs, and being proactive, we’re probably a great fit.
Who we are
We’re a startup studio that’s got dozens of consumer-facing products across the globe. Much like this position, we’re a fully remote team with an awesome, laid-back spirit.
ElevenYellow has some pretty neat perks
We’re a fantastic, close-knit team that doesn’t abide by a rigid rulebook. Here’s what you can expect when you join us:
  • Work remotely
  • We’re an experienced remote team so feel free to pick up your laptop and work wherever you want. The only things you need to make sure of is that you have a reliable internet connection, and that you’re comfortable working remotely (hammocks can be pretty comfortable).
  • Take a vacation
  • Time off is important and it’s something we encourage. We expect you to take time off work, with three weeks being the bare minimum. Take time off as you need, when you need it.
  • Meet the team on yearly retreats
  • We do yearly, week-long retreats and we’d love if you joined us (we pay your way, don’t worry). It’s important to meet each other in person and we value time spent with one another (whether that’s on Slack or face-to-face). We’ve met up all over Europe and islands across South East Asia. All in good fun.
  • We’re a laid back bunch
  • While team retreats sound awesome (and they are), our company ethos is what we value the most. Life is all about enjoyment, and work should be too. We’re all laid back and understand the human side of work and play.
Other notable perks
  • A set budget for your health insurance coverage
  • A self-improvement budget so you can keep learning
  • Gym membership coverage

While having customer support experience is a HUGE bonus for this role, we’re completely prepared to show you the ropes. Prior customer support experience isn’t necessary for us, you just need to be prepared to learn and ask questions to make yourself comfortable (don’t be shy). Before we forget We’re an equal opportunity employer and we encourage everyone to apply. We respect genders, ethnicities, boundaries, friendships, and the human aspect of work
What you’ll be doing
Offering an awesome support experience is a team effort and something we’re constantly trying to improve.
You’ll be helping us hit our goals by:
  • Thoroughly learning the ins and outs of one of our products
  • Promptly responding to customers via email
  • Helping them solve their product or service problems
  • Helping us improve customer experience by providing feedback

We do have some expectations
You’re probably the perfect candidate if you tick all (or most) of these boxes:
  • You have a great command of the English language
  • You understand that being proactive helps everyone
  • You really do care about (self) improvement
  • And you’re a self-starter

Now, here’s what you need to do:
If you think we’re a match made in heaven… send us your resumé via email! Please let us know in your email:
  • What was the last thing you did to help someone?
  • What would be your strategy for pacifying an angry client?
  • Are we a great fit? Why?

Feel free to keep your application light and conversational. We like that.

Tipo de trabajo: full_time Compañia: Concierge Live

Headquarters: Atlanta, GA
URL: https://www.conciergelive.com/

Concierge Live is a corporate ticket management application that enables clients to keep track of their entertainment inventory, fulfill requests for tickets from their employees and customers, and generate versatile, detailed reporting in response to strict (and emerging) requirements across regulated sectors such as finance.

Our small, fully-remote engineering team is looking for a senior software developer to join us as we build an upgraded version (“2.0”) of our Web-based application, and become the new lead of our tech team. Work is well underway, and we anticipate launching this new version in early 2021. There is still ample time for you to contribute to its design and development.

As head of the tech team, there will be some mentoring and management responsibilities, but as we anticipate remaining a small team, this role would be the best fit for someone who enjoys working independently and contributing substantially to all aspects of the application. We currently have a senior consultant responsible for application architecture, but this responsibility would transition to you after the launch of 2.0. That said, you won’t be operating alone - we collaborate closely on story grooming and pride ourselves on thorough and constructive code reviews, and we encourage working through challenges by pair programming. We explicitly want your feedback and involvement in designing new features (both in terms of technical design, and actual user experience). While there are occasionally unforeseen circumstances that call for a last-minute meeting or shift in priorities, we strive for a company culture with minimal meetings/distractions and healthy work/life balance.

ConciergeLive is committed to a diverse, supportive environment. Our technical team is currently led by women, and kids are welcome at the all-hands Zoom.

A passion for sports is welcome, but not required.

What You’ll Do
  • Use Ruby on Rails to develop our Web application (with the possibility of building some specific microservices in Elixir)
  • Work with multiple third-party APIs (e.g. Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, Salesforce, Metabase)
  • Deliver timely, high quality solutions to specific engineering problems
  • Make & drive technical decisions to completion
  • Liaise with senior  business leadership on technical issues and prioritization
  • Mentor and cross-train with other engineers via design discussions and code reviews
  • Navigate stakeholder needs and their tradeoffs to ensure we deliver scalable and durable solutions that meet business requirements
  • Run stand-ups, retros, sprint reviews, story grooming sessions, and other technical meetings
  • Write automated tests to ensure systems meet business needs
  • Maintain an up-to-date technical documentation library including GDPR policy, disaster recovery plans, system architecture diagrams, and templatized RFP responses.
  • Respond to the technical portions of RFPs
  • Evaluate and select tools to meet project needs without creating unnecessary technical debt

What You’ll Bring
  • Strong programming expertise in Ruby on Rails.
  • Significant experience developing consumer-facing web applications, services, and APIs.
  • Experience delivering scalable services to production.
  • Experience with Heroku (or Amazon Web Services).

  • Health, dental and vision
  • Two weeks paid vacation

Tipo de trabajo: full_time Compañia: Koj

Headquarters: Zurich, Switzerland
URL: https://koj.co/en-ch/

Changing how people live
Koj is a well-funded, ambitious startup from Zurich, Switzerland. At Koj, we want to disrupt the furniture industry and change how people live by offering a better, more sustainable, and more affordable alternative to traditional furniture retail. With Koj, consumers get their apartment fully-furnished by a professional interior designer and rent high-quality furniture on a monthly subscription. Once they move out, Koj takes all the furniture back, renovates it, and the cycle repeats.

Great design is at the core of what we believe in. Hence, we are looking for a highly talented, hard-working, and wickedly smart Design Lead/Chief Design Officer. As our creative jack of all trades (master of some), you will be responsible to instill great design into our website, our brand, our product, and our culture. You’ll work directly with (not for) the founders Carlo and Anand, and other stakeholders in the business who are passionate about creating great experiences for our users while balancing technical and design needs.

  • Lead designer for our website, our product, and our brand
  • Boosting our online presence by designing, improving, and updating landing pages and websites for our products and initiatives.
  • Redesigning our brand and CI/CD
  • Provide design feedback to our interior designers
  • Foster an open, collaborative, and inclusive environment for the team
  • Engage in recurring 1-on-1s with team members and support their development through regular coaching and mentorship. Continually lookout for ways to improve team efficiency and productivity

  • Your portfolio should demonstrate a high level of creativity and outstanding technical design skills across a wide range of media.
  • Proficient in web design, UI, UX, and graphic design.
  • Experience in (or interested in) interior design and 3D modeling/rendering.
  • Have a minimum of 3+ years of experience. Ideally, you previously worked for a startup or growing technology company.
  • Demonstrate accountability for design projects in the past and understand how to make projects successful.
  • Be responsible for giving feedback to others to help improve their performance (and be receptive to receiving feedback from others).
  • Have an insane work ethic. You work tirelessly to ship the best product possible.

Why work for Koj?
  • You’ll work mostly with cool people (Not all of us are cool. But the majority is)
  • Be part of the management team and truly make an impact through great design
  • Receive a generous ESOP package and directly participate in the success of Koj
  • Remote work: Work wherever and whenever you want
  • Gadgets — Whatever you need to get things done

How to apply
Sounds like you? Then join our team and make a dent! Send us your application including your portfolio and your CV. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
The Otaku Box Mercadeo En cualquier sitio full_time 2 days

Tipo de trabajo: full_time Compañia: The Otaku Box

Headquarters: Delaware
URL: https://www.theotakubox.com/

We’re looking for someone with experience optimizing the sales funnel for digital subscription products.

One example of a question you’d be answering (by measuring, obviously, we don’t care about opinions around here): Is the CLV better if we:
 1) Sell a subscription at $1.99/mo intro optin then 9.99/mo
 2) 9.99/mo
 3) 7.99/mo
 4) Something else? What else? How?
What about post-purchase upsell funnels? Pre-purchase order bumps? Subscription adds vs higher one time purchases (or both)? Tripwire then free item upsell incentives with free access before subscription starts? What else?
What role is conversion rate playing in CLV? At what point does increasing the cart size matter more than increasing the conversion rate or vice versa? How is subscription pricing affecting churn rate? How do we maximize CLV while reducing churn?
How about checkout page and product funnel CRO, name, headline, and image testing?
Get the gist? The above is just the tip of the iceberg. The goal is to be a master at ideating, implementing, and testing to maximize ROI with a highly flexibly digital subscription product offering and a platform that enables you to do so (SamCart) and a team to support you.
We pay well, and lots of bonuses for performance. But you will have to perform.
  • Experience optimizing the ROI of a digital product moving at least $50,000/mo in revenue (preferably a lot more, this is chump change...)
  • Experience with ChartMogul or a similar platform for measuring CLV by cohort in a subscription product
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Remote work experience, preferably using Asana

You’ll have the support of:
  • A graphics and front end team to make you whatever you want
  • A digital production team, also to make what’s needed and to create and implement new offers, upsells, downsell s, etc
  • A seasoned digital marketing team of a dozen people

What would earn you bonus points during the hiring process
  • Experience with SamCart (that’s powering our E-commerce)
  • Experience in the anime/manga industry
  • Lots of proven experience
  • Proven digital product affiliate experience

What we don't do:
  • We don't micromanage
  • We don't waste your or our time with “company culture”
  • We don't waste your or our time BSing in slack (we don't use slack)
  • We don't make you physically show up anywhere or to anything, ever
  • We avoid long meetings (actually, we try to avoid them completely)

That means that you:
  • Must be incredibly self-motivated and really eager to create (and prove) your ROI
  • Must be very communicative in Asana
  • Can't be afraid to work in a position that requires you to perform
  • Shouldn't really care about fluff (think: anything done by a Silicon Valley startup...) and should care about ROI
  • Shouldn’t get your feelings hurt easily

  • Hardware & software if/as needed
  • Free anime stuff if you want it
  • 100% remote
  • No BS, just performance
  • Good performance? Earn more cash.
  • Everything listed in “What we don't do” (see above)

Sanctuary Computer Programación En cualquier sitio full_time 3 days

Tipo de trabajo: full_time Compañia: Sanctuary Computer

Headquarters: NYC
URL: https://www.sanctuary.computer

At Sanctuary Computer — we’re building a different type of technology shop. Based in NYC’s Chinatown, the way we approach building things is more like a restaurant than a traditional agency, with an emphasis in providing our clients with an outspoken sense of layman comfort and hospitality.

We work in design, branding and engineering roles, with clients like General Electric, The Nobel Prize, Herman Miller, Adobe, Dig Inn and many others. That same thoughtfulness is applied inward, too. We understand that technologists & engineers have a strong sense of art and integrity, and are happier being a part of a team that promotes those values.

Who we’re looking for:

Right now, we’re looking for a mid-to-senior level Full Stack Developer with an interest in functional programming, IoT, backend and systems engineering.

This role involves working on the operating system for a cell phone, as well as the accompanying cloud systems and APIs that underpin the user experience.

This person should have at least 4+ years experience working in a full stack engineering role.

The person we’re looking for is happy, relaxed and easy to get along with. They’re flexible on anything except conceits that will lower their usually outstanding work quality. They work “smart”, by carefully managing their workflow and staggering features that have dependencies intelligently — they prefer deep work but are OK coming up to the surface now and then for top level / strategic conversations.

We believe people with backgrounds or interests in design, art, music, food or fashion tend to have a well rounded sense of design & quality — so a variety of hobbies or side projects is a big nice to have!

Key Technology Competencies:
  • Extensive Javascript Experience with one of React, React Native, Ember, Angular, Vue or Elm, and general familiarity with at least one other.
  • Extensive Backend Experience with one of Rails, Elixir Phoenix, Django, Rocket, .NET or similar, and a general familiarity with the backend landscape.
  • Fluency in SQL & database operations, and extensive experience with one of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL or even SQLite.
  • Fluency in HTTP, Status Codes, Security Standards and other Web protocols & patterns.
  • Extensive experience with API Design, and knowledge of oAuth2.0, JSONAPI, GraphQL, JSON Web Tokens and other such patterns.
  • Extensive experience with AWS (or equivalent) and a core understanding of best practices such as IAM & credential management.
  • Production Experience with one Heroku, Cloud66, Elastic Beanstalk, EC2 or Docker.

Nice to Have Competencies:

We’re always pitching for new and exciting technology niches. Some of the areas below are exciting to us!
  • eCommerce Experience, ideally with Spree, Solidus, Stripe & Stripe Connect.
  • Open Source Contributions & experience with Semantic Versioning.
  • Experience in Hardware, Firmware, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality.
  • Native IDEs, Languages & Low Level experience, XCode, Android Studio, Swift, Rust, C & C++, Clang & LLVM, Electron, Nan & V8.
  • Hands on experience Zenhub, Trello or Similar.
How we work:

We believe that there’s a better balance between the poles of freelancing & full time, and for that reason Sanctuary works differently to most shops:
  • Profit Sharing: Every 12 months, we put aside a portion of profit earned throughout the year to be distributed to every member, through a simple calculation based on the overall team efficiency throughout the year, and time that each team member has been with Sanctuary.
  • 100% Healthcare: Unlike most US companies, we offer at least one of our four healthcare plans at 100% employer coverage (no cost to the employee). This usually means a saving of 3 - 6k USD a year for the individual!
  • Ideas & Products: In our spare studio time, we work to build our own internal products to diversify & bolster our income. We create amazing technology products for our clients, so why not for the studio?
  • Premium Fridays: In the spirit of Yvon Chouinard’s “Let My People Go Surfing”, the last Friday of every month is a day off. We think that well rested, calm and thoughtful team members make far better decisions, and 12 extra long weekends each year helps everyone stay focused.
  • Start Time Flexibility: We generally start between 8am & 11am everyday, and do a solid 8 hours. If you’re an early riser or like a sleep in, either works for us!
  • Remote Friendly: In the wake of COVID-19, our company has transitioned to remote working, and in the process have evolved to make our workplace more decentralized, and democratized in the process.
  • Optional 401k: Our payroll provider integrations with Slavic401k to provide Sanctuary employees a way to save for retirement, without all that tax.
  • Transparency & Ownership: We release out Profit & Loss statements to the community each year, open source our best ideas, and talk business & money with everyone in the company. We’re proud to run our business with integrity, and for that reason we share everything with our team & community.
  • Anti-bloat & Efficiency: Every business tends toward complexity as time goes on, introducing procedural bloat and middle management. Sanctuary instead employs a lean, flat management structure that can only work in a small, carefully curated team like ours. The outcome: we can move quickly and with precision, while never feeling over-managed.

There’s a person we want to work with.

Thing is, we're not talking about someone specific. In fact, that’s the problem. We’re talking about a set of traits and an attitude, which is scarce! We want developers who see things differently;  that don't conform to the norm. You’re ready to get the job done, and even surprise us.

There are so many lousy job descriptions for developers in the world, we’re writing down what we’re looking for in hopes that this person (you?) is out there:
  • You understand that communication is the biggest responsibility of your job, and the one you’re least likely to get right unless you focus on it
  • When you take on a task whether it’s huge and scary or tiny and boring, you’re going to see it through to the best of your ability
  • You focus on building and shipping quality software that matters to your users and that matters to the company you’re building it for
  • You are confident with a number of programming languages, operating systems and architectures. You probably have one of each you prefer right now, but you’re neither dogmatic nor myopic in your focus on it
Please note that we are not able to sponsor any type of international visa at this time.

What we Expect from a Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails / JavaScript):
  • Comfortable within a mature Rails codebase and have an openness to JavaScript and Vue.js
  • Take an active role in breaking large projects down into deliverable pieces
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation
  • Consider the performance impacts of your technical choices
  • Participate in  architectural decisions and refactors
  • Review and test your teammates’ pull requests
  • Contribute to and maintain our existing Rspec test suites
  • Maintain and update our core SaaS business logic

About you:
  • 3+ years experience with Ruby on Rails and a test framework such as RSpec
  • 3+ years of experience with backend database skills
  • Ability to own development tasks from assignment through to production
  • Agile, humble, trustworthy, and a team player
  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Passion for building simple and intuitive solutions for complex problems in e-commerce
  • Prior SaaS development, API development or similar app dev experience a plus
  • Excellent remote communication (chat, video, email, etc)

Graphite is a boutique digital marketing firm that builds scalable growth engines for consumer technology companies such as Ticketmaster, MasterClass, and Honey. We specialize in search engine optimization (SEO), content strategy, mobile app growth, and conversion optimization.

We are a small team based in San Francisco with additional team members in Asia and Latin America, and we are ready to welcome our next team member!

For this role we are focused on people located in Canada and Latin America only.

We’re looking for an experienced Director of Growth who will be responsible for defining and executing a best-in-class growth strategy for our top tier partners. Your primary responsibility will be to gain a deep understanding of our partners’ businesses in order to drive key business results via process-driven SEO, content strategy, mobile app growth and conversion optimization. In this role, you will own critical strategic initiatives for high growth tech companies. This role requires you to be resourceful, creative and persistent to make growth marketing a successful strategic initiative for partners.

Why you’re excited about this role:
  • You will own the strategy and execution of complex, large-scale, time-critical projects in collaboration with internal and external cross-functional teams
  • You will work directly with growth and marketing executives at high growth consumer tech companies, providing growth recommendations and collaborating across growth initiatives
  • You will craft compelling business cases for growth marketing projects including opportunity sizing with Analytics and Finance teams
  • You will identify, evaluate, and prioritize scalable web platform and page-level SEO projects based on traffic and revenue growth opportunities
  • You will forecast performance, set targets, build reporting, and communicate pacing towards targets
  • You will conduct A/B tests that optimize the overall marketing program and the marketing initiatives that you champion

  • You are comfortable taking full ownership of your projects and working in a performance-driven environment while cultivating a strong sense of team and collaboration.

What expertise you’ll need:
  • Data Analysis: Exceptional data analysis skills (you’ll drive the data analysis vision and execution for your projects in collaboration with our internal Data Science team)

  • Beyond best-practices, we build SEO engines that scale. Indexation and architectural components, testing infrastructure, and high quality dynamically created local and marketplace content that fulfill the user’s intent.
  • Premium Data-Driven Content
  • Data driven approaches often lead to heavily optimized mediocrity. Premium approaches often lead to beautiful content with uncertain return on investment.
  • Often companies either have low quality data-driven content, or premium content based on intuition. We use proprietary technology that leverages data to quantify the largest opportunities within content, and combine this with a premium editorial style guide to produce content that is both delightful and drives conversions.
  • Growth Design
  • Based on 10+ years of experience and testing, we provide custom design solutions to dramatically increase key conversion funnels such as New User Experience (NUX), Authentication (Signup & Login), Commerce (Purchase & Cart), and App Growth (New Downloads & Retention).

This starts with creating scalable systems and continues by developing iterative growth processes and teams that can continuously launch improvements that grow conversions.

How we’ll help:
Graphite’s mission is to create an environment where you build the best work of your career. In order to facilitate this, we provide:
  • Process As Needed - We view process as a way to empower better work, not as a series of dogmatic rules. We develop the best internal processes as we do products - through iteration, measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Autonomy - We trust you to be excellent at what you do. We will provide as much support as needed when needed, but no more. You will have autonomy and agency to drive projects forward, and own decisions and outcomes.
  • Flexible Work Environment - Everyone’s optimal work style is unique. We operate as a distributed team across North & Latin America and Asia. We optimize for productivity and performance, not time spent in an office. Help us build an optimal work environment that fits you as an individual.
  • Compensation - We want to work with the best people in the World and compensate accordingly.
  • Vacation & Time Off - In order to be the best version of yourself, you need time to recharge. We offer flexible PTO. Take time when you need it.
  • Benefits - We will ensure you have quality health care coverage and opportunities to further your education.
