You’ll use your growth hacker instincts and experience to drive rapid brand awareness and user acquisition via community engagement, social media, influencers, email campaigns, and strategic partnerships. You have proven experience scaling brand awareness and engaging online communities and social networks to drive brand loyalty. You’re also a genuine car enthusiast, have a passion for car culture, and know how to speak to your fellow gearheads with authenticity.

You’re eager to work with a high growth team and take on an array of responsibilities. You are on the leading edge of lifestyle brand marketing and will define and deliver aggressive growth goals while creating brand evangelists.

Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: Our member community is the lifeblood of our strategy, so you’ll create a regular cadence of gamified contests, events, and activities to maintain community interactions and increase the rate of returning users
  • Social Media Marketing: Manage the company’s social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and additional relevant channels. Create shareable content appropriate for specific industries to spread both our brand and content
  • Media & Influencer Relationships: Cultivate relationships with relevant media outlets and influencers to build cost effective user & customer acquisition campaigns
  • Traffic & Customer Acquisition: Grow qualified prospects and new customers by converting site traffic to product sales through calls-to-action, landing pages, and lead generation content. Work with our SEM/SMM team to amplify high-performing assets.
  • Email Marketing: Work with our email team to build a content/promotional calendar that drives high opens, click-through, and conversions through relevant targeting, content, and promotions. Define relevant audience segmentation and automated sequences (retargeting, abandoned cart, behavioral/transactional triggers, etc.). Drive organic list growth.

  • Optimization: Improve our marketing programs and lead nurturing processes, building a cohesive customer journey to drive higher sales and repeat purchases. Build reporting to analyze and predict where sales come from to allow us to maximize ROI.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Establish closed-loop analytics with sales to understand how our inbound marketing and community activity turns into customers, and continually refine our process.

Account Executive (High-ticket Closer) At Inclusive High Growth Ecommerce Paid Ads Agency

Ingles about 17 hours

Headquarters: Los Angeles, CA
URL: http://kloutconsulting.com

NO prospecting, NO cold calls, & A proven process for closing deals.

Women are encouraged to apply!

What is
Kloutconsulting.com?

We’re an eCommerce paid ads agency. We’re a small team (and we plan to keep it that way) that believes in integrity, client obsession, taking initiative, and prioritizing personal development.

What you will be doing:

Warm lead sales via phone and Zoom, new client onboarding, content marketing development. Absolutely NO prospecting & NO cold calls – everyone you’ll speak with is already vetted and interested.

Why do you want to work with us?

Klout was founded by Rony Hay. He’s a 20-something backend digital marketer. His strength lies in building small business systems to scale. One of the best parts about working with Klout is that we believe in doing great work with people you care about. Also that you should build your professional life around your personal life, not the other way around😉. The bulk of our clients are between $10-100k per month in revenue. We’re currently experiencing 100% growth per quarter and are aiming to hit $100k per month in revenue by mid-2021

Who we would like for you to “be”:
a “people person” who instantly makes others feel so comfortable that they want to tell you all their problems (about their business). You also need to be able to talk business (P&L, ROI, Sourcing, etc.), why/how social ads on FB, IG, and Google work (FB Ads Manager, ROAS, AOV, CLTV), and tech (i.e. the fundamentals of Shopify, BigCommerce, Woo

We want you to be an A-teamer (someone who takes initiative without handholding) because most of your time will be spent independently greeting new, potential clients and helping them understand why working with Klout is the best decision they’ll make this year.

Tools you’ll use
: Phone, Zoom, Notion.so, GSuite, & Slack

Experience: Yes, you should have experience. But, at the end of the day, we want to work with great people who are outcome-oriented, driven, and love what they do. If this sounds like you, we want you to apply!

How you will be paid: Base + Commission with Quarterly revenue share %. The base will be determined by the level of experience, but a range of $5-7K / month is VERY realistic.

Growth potential: We want to keep the team small around 15 people. Ideal EBITDA is 30%, so we’ll be paying our core players very well. We’re growing rapidly and are looking for long term players to grow with our nuclear team.

Sr Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Ingles about 21 hours

Headquarters: Chicago, IL
URL: https://www.printavo.com

Everyone has their favorite college or band t-shirt, a company shirt, or a brand you like sporting. These apparel-based items are made at screen printing shops around the world and we help them stay organized and grow. It can be very difficult to manage a high-volume of those orders and that's where Printavo comes in.

On top of that, most current solutions are ancient, paper-based, and need more automation. Let's build the future of our industry together!

As a Sr Software Engineer, you will be hands-on shaping our platform in all ways from performance to integrations and every layer in between. As a platform that has been serving a quickly growing user base for 5+ years, we have had to keep up by relentlessly refactoring in order to continue to deliver value for our customers.

Who We Are:
Printavo is one of the leading software solutions for the custom apparel industry. If you’ve ever ordered custom t-shirts it’s likely that our software was running the show at that shop. With the work of our amazing team, we power printing companies around the world helping them to stay organized and grow.

For You:
  • Direct ownership of your work
  • See the effects immediately with our customers
  • Become an early member of a fast-growing team
  • Major growth and development opportunities
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Report directly to the CTO as well as work with the founder
  • Assist customer success in diagnosing and addressing customer concerns
  • Assist in monitoring for performance hotspots and participate in architectural changes to scale the platform
  • Build features covering areas from integrations with other platforms, to further building out our own API
Your Skills:
  • Communication: You know how to talk to computers and humans since they’ll both be on your team
  • Organization: Source control and writing tests is a reflex
  • Curiosity: You ask questions. Understanding comes from asking, you don’t just nod and walk away asking “what was that all about?”
  • Resilience: You don't fold under pressure. Rather, you thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Pragmatism: Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was Printavo. It was a series of choices made over a long period of time that got us to where we are, always with the guiding principle being to do right by our shareholders...our customers
  • Empathy: You love helping people, you care about your team and you're driven to enhance your personal growth. You love coming in on the ground floor and building something to reach heights it hadn’t without you. You also understand your customers and how your work helps them do their work
  • Ownership: If you see a piece of litter you pick it up. Building applications from scratch are easy. Maintaining platforms over time is hard. You are always looking for extra credit ways to make the code you work on and own better than how you found it
Pre-requisites:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher, or can prove very strong competence in many or all of the below layers of our tech stack:
  • Git
  • Ruby
  • Rails

Product Designer

Ingles about 24 hours

Headquarters: Lincoln, NE
URL: https://companycam.com

Hi, we're CompanyCam

We create simple-to-use, visual-first communication and accountability tools for contractors. Imagine a B2B SaaS app that doesn’t look like garbage, built by a team of capable, laid back people.

The Role

We're looking for sharp, self-motivated, kind, problem-solving Product Designers to join our team. You'll use your experience and expertise in shipping well-designed and successful SaaS apps (not just websites) to help CompanyCam succeed.

We're not looking for one-trick ponies either. We need holistic Product Designers: you'll do user research, UX design, UI design, interaction design, microcopy, and HTML+CSS writing while keeping both user and business goals in mind. We know it's a broad role so don't worry if you're not an expert in all those things (we like T-shaped designers). You'll also be working alongside a talented team of Product Designers who deeply care to help each other grow as holistic Product Designers.

To give you and idea of what you'd be doing day-to-day, here are some things we have worked on recently:

  • Built an experience for multiple companies to collaborate on projects in CompanyCam.
  • Worked in collaboration with marketing designers to rethink brand colors that can be useful to both marketing and product design teams.
  • Published design tokens for use in our mobile and web apps (size, color, spacing, etc.).
  • Created the ability for users to create custom photo reports in the mobile app (previously was only available in our web app).
  • Researched and implemented the ability for users to use CompanyCam projects and photos on their own company website to promote their work.
  • Started a design system to provide Product Designers/Engineers with tools to build faster and share a common design language.

Why CompanyCam?

Did you wake up this morning with a burning desire to create apps for contractors? No? I didn’t think so. I admit, it’s not something one thinks about without some prompting. But bear with me for a moment...

Contractors are everywhere. They build our homes, they literally put roofs over our heads, they wire up our electricity, give us access to the internet, fix our plumbing and AC, paint our homes…the list goes on.

At CompanyCam, you’ll work with intelligent, kind people to make contractors' work easier. You'll create time for them so they can get shit done and spend more time with their families. Sound corny? You’ll find that midwesterner ethos permeate our culture (we’re based in Lincoln, NE), so if you can’t hang with that, no hard feelings, but this probably isn’t the role for you.

Working at CompanyCam

Our Product and Engineering departments do things a little differently.

We use Basecamp’s Shape Up method (fused with empowered product teams a la Marty Cagan's Inspired) to organize and execute our work. That means you’ll work in a close-knit team consisting of a Product Manager, a Product Designer, and other Engineers on an area of the product in 6-week cycles. During cycles you'll spend about 60% of your time discovering (alongside your team) what CompanyCam should build and 40% of your time bringing those things to life. After each cycle you’ll get a 1-2 week cool-down where you’ll pursue educational opportunities, work on pet projects, or tweak some user experiences that have been nagging at you.

Sounds nice, right? No sprinting, no scrumming, no death by 1,000 meetings. We protect our designers' time, treat them like adults, and trust them to get their work done. We’re also big on not overworking people. Put in your eight hours of focused, quality work and then TURN. SLACK. OFF. No nights and weekends.

Our larger company culture is also refreshingly chill. We have fun, learn from each other, and don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We cover the important stuff too. We pay well, offer unlimited vacation, meaningful equity, health insurance, and other benefits. If you're local or down to move, we’re custom remodeling a new office space in the Lincoln Haymarket area that you’ll love. If you're remote (most of the engineering team is), we’re well set up with great conference room video equipment so you'll feel like you’re there with us, and once life is back to normal we’ll fly you in a few times a year to hang out.

What We Ask of You

You must…

  • Show up: give us your best and have the courage to do difficult but necessary stuff.
  • Grow up: take responsibility, learn continuously, and have a growth mindset.
  • Do good: treat your co-workers and customers the way you want to be treated.
  • Have experience and expertise in user research, UX design, UI design, interaction design, microcopy, and HTML+CSS with a strong portfolio of real, shipped apps.
  • Code. Currently, our designers write most of our CSS/Sass, while working directly in React and/or React Native. This goes beyond "working knowledge". You need to be comfortable writing production CSS.
  • Be a great communicator: you "work in the open", don't take critique personally, and can solicit, manage, and appropriately respond to feedback from stakeholders, users, and fellow designers.
  • Reside permanently and currently somewhere in the continental USA. Alas, we're not set up to hire designers outside of the US.
It'd be nice if you…

  • Have experience working with styled-components.
  • Live in Lincoln, NE or are interested in relocating (we'd provide assistance).
  • Have experience working in a Product-led Growth environment (or B2C environment) and can leverage that experience here.

How to Apply

Hit the apply button to tell us about yourself and about what you can bring to CompanyCam. We also want to see a portfolio that shows your best work and the process of how you got there. We'd prefer to see real, shipped apps over hypothetical projects to judge your ability, but if you can wow us with something else – that's fine. Just make sure you highlight your thought process and decision making.

We're accepting applications until Friday, January 29th, 2020 at 10PM US-Central time. There is no benefit to applying early, so take your time.

What happens next?

We will review all the applications and you should hear from us by February 5th about advancing to the interview stage – which will be all remote and include a small design challenge.

We're hoping to make an offer in February with a start date in March.

Think you're a good fit? 👇

Customer Support Representative

Ingles 1 day

Headquarters: None (Fully Distributed)
URL: https://www.rescuetime.com

10,000 Foot View

  • Hours and schedule: 15 hours/week to start (we’re open to expanding the role to full-time for the right candidate). You’ll have lots of flexibility in which hours you work.
  • Compensation: $30/hr
  • Location: Work from anywhere (RescueTime has been all-remote since before Covid)

Here’s what your average day will look like:

Each day, you’ll assist people through our support channels (mostly a ticket system, but some live chat), lend a hand on Twitter and Facebook, and be on the lookout for opportunities to improve the customer experience.

Having successful customers isn’t just important to our business, but is a core part of the value RescueTime brings into the world. As a tech support rep, you’ll help smart people do more work that’s personally meaningful and important to them. It’s fulfilling but also demanding.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to support requests from our customers via our help desk platform, phone, live chat, and occasionally social media.
  • Pay attention to customer feedback and work directly with the rest of our CS team to improve our processes and product. Our customers have a lot to say and we need to absorb it.
  • Track customer support effectiveness by developing systems to help us understand how we’re responding to customers and track areas where we can improve.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to solve bugs and system issues affecting users.
  • Create and maintain our user knowledge base.

Who’s a good fit for this position?

You’ll be an ideal new coworker at RescueTime if you get satisfaction from:
  • Getting to the root of a customer’s problems and finding solutions that make them smile
  • Learning and mastering new software
  • Speaking up and being a part of a collaborative team
  • Being focused and efficient–support requests can occasionally pile up and we’re looking for someone who is organized and cool under occasional pressure
  • Finding more efficient ways to help our customers whether that’s through live chat or developing a library of templates for the most common customer issues
This is a front-line position with lots of direct interaction with our customers. You should be able to manage lots of conversations and be patient enough to deal with the occasional customer who is just having a really bad day.

You’ll need these qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience in a customer support/success capacity (ideally with lots of written and online interaction).
  • You’re a pro at diagnosing peculiar software issues and helping less (and sometimes more!) technical folks navigate their way to success.
  • A proven track record of efficient written communication
  • An even and cheerful temperament.
  • A fast and reliable internet connection, a quiet place to have occasional video calls, and a solid desktop/laptop computer (Mac or Windows).

It would be great if...

  • You’re excited about personal development–stuff like Fitbit, RescueTime, etc.
  • You are genuinely interested in fiddling with technology–software, hardware, mobile, desktop, you name it!
  • You’re a RescueTime user (or you are at least familiar with it)
  • You’re familiar with any of the other tools we use, like Slack, Google Docs, Help Scout, and Coda.
  • You have a keen interest in software usability.
  • You know how things work on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc) and have an interest in marketing and community management there.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team

We think solving the hard problems around meaningful work takes all sorts of perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.

How to apply

Send an email to hello@rescuetime.com with the subject line “Customer Support Representative”.

Please include a PDF resume or link to an online profile (LinkedIn) as well as a brief description of your most relevant experience. Also, be sure to tell us a bit about your availability. When can you start? Are you interested in part-time or full-time work?

In addition to the standard stuff, please tell us the following:
  1. What new software have you used over the past 5 years that has changed how you work?
  2. If you were a CS rep at RescueTime and a customer requested a new feature that was on our roadmap, how would you reply?
  3. What unusual qualities do you have that would make you stand out from other people interested in this position?

Senior WordPress Plugin Developer

Ingles 1 day

Headquarters: Nova Scotia, Canada
URL: https://deliciousbrains.com

Hi, my name is Brad Touesnard. I’m the founder of Delicious Brains Inc. We make high quality products for WordPress.

The “we” is currently a small team of developers, one designer, one marketer, and myself. I’m very proud to say that our little crew has been managing to delight thousands of customers, working from our homes since 2012.

Despite the crazy times we’re living in, we have big plans for 2021 and this is a great opportunity to join a small team of talented folks building awesome products before we get bigger.

The Job

I’m looking for a talented developer with lots of experience building WordPress plugins to join Ram and Iain working on our sites:
  • deliciousbrains.com (WooCommerce)
  • bettersearchreplace.com (Easy Digital Downloads)
  • spinupwp.com (custom checkout)

In the past, WordPress development has been very PHP-heavy, but that is changing. React is taking over WordPress core, WooCommerce, and lots of plugins including ours. So although working on our sites is still mostly PHP, the React work will be ramping up.

A specific React project we’ll tackle soon is to extend the new WooCommerce Admin reports to include reporting for our custom software licensing and subscriptions addon. This will be a great opportunity for you to ramp up on React if you haven’t already.

You’ll also join the rest of our whole team in writing new articles and updating existing content for our sites. We send an email to our 11k subscribers every week about our content.

Although this is how you’ll start, we’ve shuffled people around lots in the past and we’ll certainly be building new products in the future, so your role is certainly not set in stone.

Responsibilities
  • Develop our custom software licensing and subscriptions addon for WooCommerce that runs on deliciousbrains.com (we aim to turn this into a product someday)
  • Improve the APIs that our WordPress plugins connect to for licensing, support, statistics, etc
  • Build new APIs to add cloud features to our plugins
  • Work with design and marketing teams to implement new sections, pages, promotions, pricing, etc.
  • Chip away at the backlog of fixes and improvements
  • Maintain and write new acceptance tests
  • Test WordPress core and third-party plugin updates and fix any issues
  • Help maintain the servers running our sites
  • Write articles and tutorials for our blog
  • Attend company retreats (see job posting)

Requirements
  • Expert PHP development skills
  • 5 years of advanced PHP development
  • 5 years of HTML & CSS development
  • 2 years of JavaScript development (ES6/jQuery)
  • 2 years of advanced WordPress plugin development
  • 1 year working with git as source control
  • Experience writing automated tests
  • Experience working with complex APIs like Amazon Web Services
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Work hours that overlap some with the EST timezone
  • Self-motivated and work well independently
  • Comfortable working remotely (we don’t have an office)

Bonus Points
  • Experience with modern JS frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, Angular)
  • Experience developing with the Laravel framework
  • System administration skills
  • UX and design skills
  • Open source contributions
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent

About You

You’re thrilled to work with the latest hotness language or framework but also thrive working on a “fixer-upper” project. You respect old code, no matter how ugly it looks. You truly enjoy figuring out how old code works, refactoring it, and tackling the challenges that come with it. You have experience doing this type of work and know you love it.

You’re a problem solver who loves to analyze an issue, recreate it and track it back to the source of the problem. You won’t commit any code unless it’s fully tested and solves the problem. Better still, you write the tests to go with it.

You’re curious and love to learn. You embrace the opportunity to level up, learn something new and really dig into it. You’re a disciplined worker and have no trouble getting work done at home on any given day.

You value consistency above preference and will adopt new coding styles, standards, and tools to that end. You are stellar at identifying the simple, elegant solution in a sea of over-engineering possibilities.

Although you enjoy working with people to help you generate ideas and formulate a plan of attack on a project, you do your best work in isolation without interruption. You’re proactive in tackling things that need to be done without direction.

You’re exceptional at communicating in writing via instant message, email, etc. You’re ok on the phone and video chat too. You understand that clear, concise written communication is how remote teams thrive. Putting a pull request up for review without explaining its context is unheard of for you.

You own both successes and failures. When a project you’re leading turns into a disaster, you own it and you learn from it. You never point the finger at others.

You invite criticism and genuinely want to grow as a professional. You’re onboard with pushing each other to be better and are not afraid to give constructive criticism in addition to receiving it.

The Offer
  • Remote First. We have always been a remote company, since the very start in 2012. Working from home has its challenges, but you’ll be surrounded by empathetic folks who have been successfully working from home for many years.
  • Company Retreats. As a remote company, it’s super important to get some face time. In 2019 we had a blast in Berlin but we had to cancel our trip to Portugal this past June. Hopefully we’ll be able to meet up again soon. Will you be joining us?
  • Location Independent. Work from wherever you’re happiest. All members of our team currently work from their homes in the US, Canada, the UK, and India.
  • Choose Your Schedule. Most companies claim to have flexible hours, but the reality is often very different. We flex our hours for real. 💪 As long as on average you’re working the number of hours you’ve committed to working each week, we’re good.
  • Personal Development. If there’s a conference or event that will help you level up, the company will cover your expenses. You’re also allotted some time each month to learn something new unrelated to your job, participate in community discussions, and/or contribute to an open source project.
  • Profit Sharing. I present a detailed financial report to the team quarterly so everyone knows how the company is doing. And when the company does well, the team does well. Last year, on average team members received USD $3,600 each.
  • Company Holidays. Things get pretty quiet in late December / early January, so we always treat ourselves to a couple of weeks off to reboot during this time.
  • Paid Leave. For the birth or adoption of a child, the company offers 8 weeks of 100% paid leave for primary caregivers and 3 weeks for secondary caregivers. We also offer 5 paid sick days and 3 days of paid bereavement leave.
  • Health Insurance. Members of the team based in Canada are eligible for health/dental/life/disability insurance on a company plan while those outside of Canada are eligible for a stipend to partially cover insurance costs.
  • Competitive Salaries. The company typically pays salaries that are competitive with the market in which you reside. For this role, typical salary ranges would be:
    • United States – USD $75,000 – $120,000 / year
    • Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand – USD $65,000 – $110,000 / year
    • India, Argentina, Brazil – USD $35,000 – $55,000 / year
There are situations that call for higher pay even when living in a region with a lower cost of living, so we’re flexible on this.

Apply

Fill out the application form:

We are an equal opportunity employer. Application information that is prone to unconscious biases is hidden during the review process whenever possible. We judge the content of the applications on their own without knowledge of the applicant’s race, color, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, or age. We support workplace diversity, but not at the expense of equal opportunity and meritocracy. We’re looking for talented and empathetic people no matter their other attributes.

I look forward to reviewing your application.

Best of luck,

Software Engineer

Ingles 1 day

Headquarters: Birmingham, AL
URL: https://www.fleetio.com/

Description

We're looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team and help us build amazing features for our customers. The ideal candidate is someone who takes high ownership, can work independently with minimal guidance, is highly driven and motivated to deliver value.

What you'll be doing

You’ll collaborate with other Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, and the Customer Success team to implement features and help solve escalated support cases. About 80% of your time will be spent working on new features and 20% will be spent investigating and fixing bugs.

Our stack includes Ruby on Rails, React, Tailwind, Postgres and Heroku. We’re currently on Rails 6 and strive to keep our frameworks and libraries up to date.

Be sure to mention coffee in your cover letter so we know you actually read this.

What's in it for you
  • Be a part of an incredible team of “A” players who go above and beyond to make Fleetio a successful company. We’re a customer-centric team with a great product, excellent support, and countless happy customers.
  • Work remotely (within the United States), or at our Birmingham, AL HQ. Over 80% of our Engineering Team works remotely (including our CTO), and as a company, we strive to promote a strong remote working culture and have done so since the beginning (2012).
  • Build software used by people all around the world. So many different types of companies and organizations operate a fleet each day, and Fleetio is a good fit for most of them (it’s a huge market).

Our team

We're hardcore believers in easy-to-use software. Crafting a delightful user experience is hard work, but we welcome the challenge and are looking for team members who share our ambition.

We’re a well-funded startup that’s in “scale up” mode, meaning we’re past the days of just a couple of people in a small office, but we’re still very much a fast-paced, highly collaborative company. We recently raised a $21M Series B round and are on an exciting trajectory as a company. You can learn more about it here.

Our main goal as Product Engineers is to quickly and continuously deliver meaningful value to our customers. We have aligned our teams, tools, and processes to achieve this. Our Engineering and Product teams are structured as autonomous squads that execute within one focal area toward a defined product vision. We've also optimized our CI/CD tools and processes to make it painless to run our test suite and get code into our production environments easily, resulting in an average of 40 deploys per week.

We organize our development work into a weekly cadence that takes inspiration from Kanban and Agile methodologies. While we keep meetings to a minimum, we’re committed to fostering a tight-knit team through various collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, GitHub, and Notion. We place great emphasis on work/life balance. We have families and know you do, too.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails
  • 1-2 years of production React experience
  • Experience with relational databases such as Postgres
  • Experience with front-end web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6)
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as Jest, RSpec
  • Understanding of the balance between scrappiness and long-term code maintainability
  • Compelled to make things look beautiful and work flawlessly
  • Cherish productivity, delivering value and have a deep-rooted care for helping teams communicate and collaborate more effectively and efficiently

We consider it a plus if you...
  • Have experience with Tailwind or CSS-in-JS frameworks
  • Have experience with TypeScript
  • Know a thing or two about the fleet management industry

Benefits
  • 100% coverage of health and dental insurance
  • 401(k) + match
  • Company stock
  • Dependent Care FSA and Medical FSA
  • Generous PTO and 8 company holidays
  • Maternity/Paternity leave
  • Mac laptop, book stipend, and professional development funds
  • Health and wellness incentives

Site Reliability Engineer

Ingles 1 day

Headquarters: Brussels
URL: https://urbantz.com/

About the product and your role:

The Urbantz solution is critical and in the core of our customers' business. Reliability is our daily concern and we need a Site Reliability Engineer responsible for the overall health and performance of our platform.

You'll be the first SRE at Urbantz and part of your responsibility will be to help us to hire people to grow the team and, if you are interested in such a position, lead this team in the future.

Today we are facing common challenges of a fast-growing company:
  1. Our product evolves quickly
  2. Scaling
  3. Transforming from one to multiple stream-aligned teams
  • Our mindset is "You build it, you run it". But at this stage, we have a lack of knowledge regarding "Ops". Our goal is to avoid silos, and creating an Ops team was never an option.
  • Following the DevOps principles, we want to bring Ops mindset into our Stream-aligned teams. You will, first, act as a doer by implementing good practices and processes, but one of key focus areas will be to act as an enabler.

How we are organized:

What you will do:

  • Define some SLO in collaboration with the entire Engineering Team
  • Improve observability of our systems through monitoring and alerting
  • Be an active contributor in the culture of authoring blameless post-mortems by conducting post-incident reviews
  • Improve and document our release process, service setup, teardown and failover
  • Create an operational playbook/runbook
  • Put in place a disaster recovery testing at least annually
  • Optimize on-call rotations and processes
  • Teach engineers in stream-aligned teams about SRE practices

Your profile:

  • Understanding and experience in managing cloud infrastructure and platforms, such as AWS and Azure
  • Experience with production system administration and web operations
  • Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes
  • Experience with programming using JavaScript, Node.JS
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and Load balancers setup and troubleshooting
  • Experience in massive-scale web operations
  • MongoDB and general database NoSQL knowledge, including performance and optimization
  • Experience with Monitoring tools (Grafana)
  • Excellent information management practices, such as detailed documentation, usage of wikis, and other collaboration tools
  • Strong comprehension of continuous integration and continuous deployment methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications

What’s in it for you?

  • Join a winning team. Great people that work hard but have fun doing that.
  • A fast-growing company where you are given a lot of autonomy and trust.
  • Enter the promising, ever-growing world, of last mile logistics.
  • A competitive package
  • You can make a huge impact, and grow with the company.
  • If you want to just “work” somewhere, we probably aren’t the right place. If you want to make a serious difference with positive, real-world implications, then we want to see you!

Software Developer

Ingles 2 days

Headquarters: Los Angeles, CA
URL: https://www.technovation.org/

Full-Time; Remote (within the United States) or from offices in LA (post-pandemic)
Starting salary range for this position is $95,000 – 105,000

About Technovation

Technovation (technovation.org) is a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls and families to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers. Over the past 14 years, Technovation has engaged more than 100,000 underserved children and parents across 115+ countries through two flagship programs:

Technovation Girls equips young women (ages 10-18) to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems. You may have seen Technovation featured in the award-winning documentary, CodeGirl

Technovation Families brings together families, schools, and mentors to learn, play, and create with artificial intelligence. Through hands-on projects, children (ages 8-16) and adults learn and use AI tools to address real-world problems in their communities.

Our vision is to inspire girls and families to be leaders and problem solvers in their lives and their communities.

About this opportunity

As a Software Developer, you will play a key role on a small development team responsible for building and maintaining Technovation’s online learning platforms. You will help with all aspects of our platforms from ideation and technical design, to deployments and support.

This is a chance to be a part of a leading education technology nonprofit, in service to tens of thousands of girls and families in more than 100 countries.

One of the main goals of our work is to bring educational opportunities to underrepresented people and bring them into the technology workforce. We believe that, with the right learning opportunities and support, everyone has the ability to learn and to become technology creators.

About you:

You definitely don’t need to check every box but we’ll be looking for people with a bunch of these qualities.
  • You are a socially conscious and compassionate person, and consider your job as a means to have a positive impact on the world.
  • You like wearing multiple hats – working on a variety of problems with various technologies.
  • You are a positive thinker and are able to work collaboratively and constructively as part of a small dev team.
  • You are a self starter, have experience working on a remote team and managing your time.
  • You are constantly trying to improve – yourself, the team, the process, the codebase, and the product.
  • You have a great sense of humour and love to have fun while you work!
  • You care about code quality, readability and maintainability.
  • You don’t mind that the code built isn’t perfect, and like the challenge of improving it to meet our medium and long-term goals.
  • You’ve been practicing your craft professionally for a while now. (We don’t require any particular university education or degree).
Technical skills you’ll need to have:
  • Experience with an object-oriented programming language and an MVC framework (we use both Ruby on Rails and Python/Django)
  • Experience with testing methodologies (we use RSpec, pytest, and Jest)
  • Experience with a modern frontend framework (we use Vue.js)
  • Experience with CI/CD toolchains (we use GitHub, CircleCI and Heroku)
We also use a variety of other technologies that you will need to help support, including Cloudflare, New Relic, WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Apps, Google Location APIs, Surveymonkey, Mailchimp and Mandrill.

Bonus points for…
  • Constructive communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Empathy for the end-user, for people of different cultures, languages, and education levels from your own
  • Experience with agile and user-centered development practices (but you’re not dogmatic about it)
  • Demonstrated commitment to STEM education, closing the gender gap in tech, or other issues related to Technovation’s mission
  • Liking The IT Crowd, Sandi Metz, or whatever your fav is that you can share with us

We offer:

Autonomy. In collaboration and negotiation with staff, you will make high level decisions about the work you will do, and how you will execute it. We don’t micromanage here. Just communicate clearly and discuss decisions with any people affected by it.

Flexible schedule. Go to appointments and run errands when you need to, as long as you’re getting your work done in good quality and on time. We have core hours, but no one is looking over your shoulder.

Ample paid time off. We offer 20 paid vacation days on top of regular holidays. (We also pay 100% of your healthcare coverage.)

Meaningful work. You’ll contribute directly to a project that provides technology education to students from underserved areas in 100 countries, all while helping to address the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields. Real people will express their gratitude to you in emails and slack chats.

Workplace input. If you can convince your coworkers, we are open to adopting new workflows, software, etc, that you think would improve our organization. The only formal approval commonly needed is for budget.

“Flat” organization. We do have a Leadership Team so that we know who to go to for help with issues and major decisions, and so that we have a clearly defined level of accountability, but you definitely won’t feel like you have a traditional boss or manager. All the way “up” to the CEO, we are transparent and honest. This isn’t fluff for a job posting, it’s something we actively practice and keep in check.

The best salary we can at the moment. Sure, you can make more at a top software company but at Technovation you’ll have purpose-driven work, personal freedom, meaningful collaboration, and real decision making power within the organization. As an education nonprofit, we don’t answer to shareholders, investors, and quarterly reports. Instead, we get to make what’s best for us and our users, on our own schedule. We will do everything we can to enable you to do the best work of your career and take pride in it.

How to apply:

Send the following to recruiting@technovation.org using the subject line “Developer”
  • Resume (pdf format)
  • In your email or as an attached pdf, briefly describe your experience building web apps and why you want to join Technovation
Optionally, you may also include:
  • a link to your GitHub profile, personal portfolio or website
  • an example of a website, an app, or anything built with code that you love, and a sentence or two about what specifically you admire about it (doesn’t have to have been made by you)
