About TestGorilla

At TestGorilla, we envision a world where everyone has their dream job. To achieve that, employers and employees need to have the right information about each other. We started in 2020 by building a product that provides this information in the selection phase of recruitment. It replaces subjective, incomplete, and often inflated CVs with objective, reliable, and fair test results that measure aptitude, practical job skills, culture add, and motivation. But this is only the start or our journey to get everyone their dream job.

Early 2020 we attracted $1.2M in seed funding. We’ve been live commercially since July. Our growth is very steep – all SaaS metrics seem to indicate we’re on the right track. We get daily requests from VC investors to talk about our next round.

We work remotely, spread across Amsterdam, Barcelona, Florida, Granada, New York, Serbia, and South Carolina.

Our values

Joining TestGorilla means you’re joining a group of people who are committed to a set of values that guide our behaviors and decisions day to day:
  • We encourage each other: We bring a positive attitude to work. We help each other when stuck. We challenge each other in constructive ways. We celebrate wins as a team.
  • We are bold: We’re bold in our ambition and dare to create new things. We know what we’re capable of and learn from our mistakes.
  • We take full ownership of our work: We own the outcome of our work and do whatever necessary to improve it--including soliciting feedback and asking for help when we get stuck.
  • We strive for excellence: We hold ourselves to high standards and work hard to increase our competencies.
  • We do the right thing: We’re straight shooters and take our word seriously. We treat each other, our customers, and our collaborators with respect and empathy.

Senior Software Engineer

Ingles 7 days

Headquarters: San Francisco, CA
URL: https://vergesense.com/

About Us and Why We’re Hiring:

The future of work is increasingly complex — remote workers, distributed teams, flexible multi-tenant office space — and the dynamic of how workers interact with each other and their physical space is changing. We’re optimizing every corner of the world, with and for you!

VergeSense is a Y-Combinator backed, provider of an AI-Powered Sensor-as-a-Service platform for commercial real estate. We are building an easy-to-deploy space utilization & sensing platform that helps real estate professionals monitor foot-traffic within buildings. We provide a full-stack solution comprising easy-to-deploy AI-sensors, fleet management tools, analytics software, and APIs that integrate with the leading workplace management systems on the market. Data from our platform is used to improve building layout & design, execute dynamic workforce strategies, and reduce energy costs. Our cost-effective sensors are installed within minutes, providing actionable insights and AI-powered recommendations in real time. For large clients, the financial impact is in the tens of millions per year.

Headquartered in San Francisco, we are 20 million square feet and counting, in 18 different countries around the world, working with 20 Fortune 500 Organizations, companies such as BP, Cisco, and Quicken Loans to name a few. During COVID-19, we have not only doubled in size and specialization (we are working with an industry first product using computer vision on the edge with full stack solutions for hardware and software products), we have seen a huge product development need, serving as a valued resource and trusted partner. We are shaping community for the long-term to ensure workspaces stay: safe, healthy, and productive.

In order to continue fueling that growth, we are expanding in order to keep up with the acceleration of the business. That’s where you come in. We are excited to announce our latest role: the Senior Software Engineer position! We are looking for someone to grow within our expanding team in the U.S., creating impact as you pick up projects to help with our evolving technical and engineering processes.

Excited to see how you can be a leading contributor to: protecting and enhancing the workspace, and optimizing businesses? Us too! Let’s see what we are looking for here at VergeSense.

What We’re Looking For:

The goal of the Senior Software Engineer position is to work independently and under the direction of the Hiring Manager, Ted Healey, Vice President of Software Engineering, to support and assist members of the Platform, Integrations and Sensor teams on the hardware and software product, processing data pipelines and looking at the IoT data within the platform and integrations overlap.

The mission of the Senior Software Engineer is to drive and have high ownership of developing VergeSense’s user-facing analytics portal, deployment & commissioning tools, data-management tools, monitoring systems, and APIs for our hardware and software products. You will work hand in hand to drive the roadmap, have a say in high level decisions and think broadly to align with product managers across the board. Overall the goal is to reduce technical debt, contributing to the only hardware that appreciates over time. Unprecedented times calls for unprecedented measures, and visibility, into how spaces work for our partners.

This is a senior level role (5-10 industry year experience preferred), with the job opening in Boston or Minneapolis, and possibility of a Remote hire.

That’s a super-brief intro to what you’ll be working on. But first, you need to know if you’ll even like working with us! Let’s talk about life at VergeSense and then we’ll go into more details.

How You’ll Work at VergeSense:

We are seeing first-hand how corporate real estate is here to stay even during the COVID-19 Pandemic, with a growing need for community and social importance centered around the strategic use of office spaces. Within the past year alone, the pandemic has expedited the industry of sensor technology, sales going up 500% (QoQ) as a major product development year while raising $10M to accelerate product development and GTM. We are growing fast to serve the complexity and nuance of needs of continuous onboarding of diverse Fortune 500 companies, which has escalated tremendously during the pandemic.

As we adapt and adjust to challenging environmental factors, we are modernizing an industry where data is manually tracked, static, anecdotal, and incomplete. Our product is both hardware and software, with thousands of % increase in expansion by cohort analysis in the 3 years since our founding, with the SaaS ability to become a standalone product (“data factory’); this is an industry first! How do we do this? We lead with simplicity- from product design, to engineering architecture, to our day-to-day working styles providing increased asset value and a more productive workplace.

You, as the Senior Software Engineer, will come in, hit the ground running by picking up projects, while helping build out the team culture as an early member of an evolving team that is experiencing a major growth period, as each team member is beginning to specialize into sub-teams/pods.

We are working hard to make being an employee at VergeSense an amazing experience and have a small team of truly exceptional people—the kind you’ll be excited to work with. Here’s how we operate:

  • Remote. This will be a full-time, high-impact industry leader role, based in Boston or Minneapolis however, we are open to remote.

  • Compensation. Competitive compensation and equity.

  • Insurance. Employer-sponsored medical, dental and vision insurance.

  • Take Vacation (Seriously). We have an open vacation policy, take time off when you need it!

Who Are You? You Are Our Ideal Candidate If:

  • You have demonstrated hands-on experience with tech stack, feeling comfortable within the software stack. Backend focus is okay, full stack is ideal with as much tech stack overlap as possible (Cannot have front-end only).

  • You have demonstrated hands-on experience within VergeSense commonly used frameworks: Ruby on Rails, React.js and Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud computing platforms.

  • You have demonstrated experience with experience working with databases (i.e. PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL and data infrastructure).

  • You have demonstrated experience with JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, or similar).

  • You have demonstrated hands-on experience with IoT data backgrounds, preferred.

  • You have a demonstrated understanding of CS/CE fundamental concepts and OOP languages. APIs is also preferred.

  • You are VergeSense, you embody and help grow our company values: (humility, approachable, welcoming, transparency, openness and listening skill sets).

  • You are someone who has comfort with ambiguity (i.e. fast paced, start-up environment), you help create the bedrock of a successful team and product growth despite uncertainty and can make sense of the chaos.

  • You are someone that no matter the task or obstacle at hand, you face every challenge with enthusiasm; High Energy, High Ownership.

  • You are a persistent problem solver, being proactive and taking leaps as you jump into challenges with a hands-on approach while you think broadly and strategically

What Success Looks Like:

Within 30-60 days, contribute to a growing company culture as an individual contributor to come in, and pick up projects. This person will drive and have high ownership of the work.
  • Align as an active member between Platform, Integrations and Sensors teams for the hardware and software products. Within each team, coordinate and think broadly alongside a product manager to drive forward the roadmap, providing strategic support, which is likely beyond typical IC. These teams are divided by interests:
  • Integrations (slack, batch data, etc)
  • Data pipeline, large scale IoT data
  • Platform (analytics, separate SaaS product)
  • Sensors/hardware (anything that connects to the other product)
  • 5 digit to 6 digit in shipping / product development push this year

Within 60-90 days, become a leading staff member within the technological and engineering process bringing software/tech stack experience (full stack ideal), with overlap with tech stack as much as possible; backend is okay. You will have become immersed within VergeSense platforms:
  1. React.js, Ruby on Rails, Heroku, a variety of Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies (AWS IoT, Redshift, DynamoDB)

If you’ve read this job invitation and are excited about becoming our newest Senior Software Engineer, please get in touch!

At VergeSense, we don’t just accept differences — we celebrate them, we support them, and we thrive on them for the benefit of our employees, our customers, and our community. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. If you’re good at what you do, come as you are. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. VergeSense is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.

We’d start with a short 2-week trial when you’ll identify some things that can be improved and start improving them immediately.

See, we’re looking for someone who can teach us something & take our team on the next technical level.

What kind of people thrive here?

When I’m thinking about technical people, the ones that thrive are those that don’t like doing the same thing twice.

They’re independent. They like to get to the bottom of the problem. They use the latest technologies, but they’re realistic enough to figure out how it fits the project.

Take this example: https://github.com/Codeinwp/neve/issues/1989

Or the time an intern used a small internal hackathon as an opportunity to learn a new programming language by asking “can the blocks be made in exotic programming languages like PureScript, F# with Fable or Elm?”

For this particular role, you’ll need to understand WordPress really really well, have experience in leading a small team or at least running a major project on your own & have strong PHP & Javascript knowledge.

How to apply?

Use the form below and clearly state in a written or video form :
  • Your experience with WordPress development.
  • What is your favorite code performance tweak & show us some code you’ve written that you’re proud of if possible
  • Tell us a bit about yourself and why you should be considered.
  • Profile links with code samples (GitHub, GitLab, WordPress.org, etc).
  • Other profile links if available (Your website, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc).
  • A technical improvement that you’ll do on https://github.com/Codeinwp/neve
  • For the input field asking if you agree, the answer is themeisle. Unfortunately 90% of the people doesn't seem to read this.
Please take your time to go through those and answer carefully, we don’t have a long interview process, nor any technical tests per se, we’ll need those answers and references to go through them and figure out your technical skills.

Note: I won’t be able to individually respond to all applications, if you’re a match we’ll reach out.
What does the process look like?

If you seem to be the right person, I will reach out to you for a quick 30’ meeting.  I would like to learn more about what you are looking for and answer your questions, alternatively, we can do this via text as well.

If we agree to move forward, then the next step would be a chat with Marius, our CTO, about the technical work you’ve done and what you would like to do.

If this goes well, we’d move into the 2-week paid trial to see how things would work.

If this goes well, you’re hired.

Who We Are

DockYard is hiring an HTML/CSS Specialist. We are a 100% remote digital product consultancy. Our in-house team of product strategists, product designers, and software engineers specialize in delivering web applications with a user-driven approach and mindset. We also provide expert HTML/CSS  staff augmentation and consulting to help clients build fast, scalable, and reliable products and services.

What We Do

Our workflow involves three steps. Designers hand off mockups to the HTML/CSS developers who then give styled templates to engineers. Traditionally writing HTML and CSS was the responsibility of designers or engineers, but with the rapid growth of HTML5 and CSS3, we believe that there needs to be a role within the team solely focused on those technologies.

As an HTML & CSS developer at DockYard you will collaborate closely with our in-house Design and Engineering teams to facilitate the handoff between visual design and implementation. In addition to that, you will be challenged with helping drive the creation of web applications and solving interesting problems regarding accessibility, browser compatibility, standards compliance, and responsive design.

The ideal candidate is one who lives and breathes HTML & CSS, and continuously seeks to sharpen those skills, stays up to date with modern CSS techniques and emerging web standards, and strives to achieve clean, semantic, accessible markup.

Responsibilities
  • Own the HTML & CSS development of modern web applications, operating between Design and Engineering teams.
  • Assist in scoping, estimating, and planning for projects, in collaboration with the team lead.
  • Participate in work review, pairing, or other forms of knowledge sharing.

Must Haves
  • Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3
  • Understanding of industry best practices
  • Understanding of BEM methodology
  • Comfortable developing outside of any CSS frameworks (no Bootstrap, Foundation, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Nice to Haves
  • Knowledge of PostCSS and SMACSS
  • Familiarity with a11y practices
  • Experience with Sketch and Git preferred
  • Prior client services, consulting, or freelancing experience
  • Experience working in a remote team

DockYard is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, political affiliation, personal appearance, pregnancy, family responsibilities, matriculation, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state, or local law.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Java Full Stack Developer for Business Lending Venture

Ingles 8 days

Headquarters: UK
URL: https://www.waddle.com.au/

Our Purpose

At Waddle we are pushing the boundaries of lending for small businesses. We started our journey five years ago, building an industry leading product to enable simple, quick and digital access to lending for small businesses. The product enables the customer to finesse their daily cash flow requirements to suit the way they manage their business and works hand and hand with cloud accounting software. Our product was so successful that we now enable other lenders in multiple markets to use the product for their own customers.

We were recently acquired by the global cloud accounting software company, Xero, who saw a beautiful connection between our purpose “making it easy for small businesses to access lending” and their purpose “helping small businesses to thrive worldwide”.  When these purposes align, we’re not only helping small businesses, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.

How you'll make an impact

We are looking for an engineer with good core Java skills to provide bespoke development and support for our UK banking partner who run a white-labelled variant of our working capital product. The day to day work will involve:
  • Developing robust, high-quality software that meets the expectations of your product development team’s standards and procedures and meets modern best practices for highly scalable, reliable, maintainable software.
  • Troubleshooting production issues and debugging code, analysing the available data and finding the root cause of the problem
  • Breaking down complex problems into actionable work, deliver real-world business outcomes and handle changing priorities

How we work

We embrace agile practices and continuous delivery, deploying multiple times a day to our AWS cloud environment. This role will cover a mix of:
  • Java/Spring application servers with a modular architecture
  • ReactJS front-end using REST/JSON APIs for our lending web application
  • C# desktop component for moving client accounting data to our cloud servers for clients that don't use a cloud accounting package
  • AWS cloud infrastructure across Elastic Beanstalk, CloudFront, S3, Lambda etc.
The UK branch is a small satellite remote team that works closely with the product and operations people from our UK banking partner. We use a combination of synchronous and asynchronous communication and tools to collaborate as a single team with our banking partner, which is reflected in our delivery and support processes.

Our head quarters are in Sydney, Australia where we run our own lending book on our own platform which gives us first hand feedback to drive the product development.

Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Hasura Cloud

Ingles 8 days

Headquarters: San Francisco
URL: https://hasura.io/

Brief Overview:

DevOps Engineers and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) are responsible for keeping Hasura Cloud systems running smoothly and making sure updates can be rolled out reliably without any downtime.

Hasura Cloud is a unique GraphQL infrastructure product where we try to abstract away all the raw compute concepts from the user. A user should be able to only care about the limits they set based on the concurrent requests and latencies they can afford and the system should be able to accommodate and scale to the user requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be on a PagerDuty rotation to respond to Hasura Cloud availability incidents and provide support for service engineers with customer incidents.
  • Use your on-call time to be on the front line: respond to incidents, and take action to fulfil our SLOs. Use your dev time to address the systemic issues you’ve identified, to proactively prevent incidents from happening.
  • Run our infrastructure with Terraform, Kubernetes, VMs and bare metal instances.
  • Design smart monitoring that alerts on symptoms (our SLIs) rather than on causes, to make each alert meaningful and actionable.
  • Document every action so your findings turn into repeatable actions–and then into automation.
  • Improve the deployment process to make it as boring as possible.
  • Design, build and maintain core infrastructure pieces that allow Hasura Cloud scaling to support thousands of concurrent requests from our users.
  • Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack.
  • Expand Hasura Cloud to support multiple Cloud providers.
  • Plan the growth of Hasura Cloud's infrastructure.

You may be a fit to this role if you:

  • Think about systems - edge cases, failure modes, behaviors, specific implementations.
  • Know your way around Linux and the Unix Shell.
  • Know what is the use of declarative infrastructure tools like Terraform.
  • Have strong programming skills (Go/Python).
  • Have an urge to collaborate and communicate asynchronously.
  • Have an urge to document all the things so you don't need to learn the same thing twice.
  • Have an urge to build automation and tooling so that you never have to do the same work twice.
  • Have an enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When you see something broken, you can't help but fix it.
  • Have an urge for delivering quickly and iterating fast.
  • Have experience with Nginx, Openresty, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar technologies.
  • Have experience with various Cloud providers like AWS, GCP, Azure, DO etc., their systems, products and APIs.
  • Have experience with monitoring tools like Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana.

Bonus points for:

  • Have experience with Hasura and its GraphQL APIs.
  • Have strong fundamentals in SQL, particularly with PostgreSQL.
  • Have experience with database management and scaling.

Location:

This role is fully remote. We hire in most countries. If you're applying from the US, we hire remotely in these 10 states in the US: Illinois, Virginia, California, Washington State, Maryland, Florida, Colorado, Massachusetts, Oregon, New York or this role will be based out of our office in Bangalore, India.

Full-stack developer for eSports startup

Ingles 8 days

Headquarters: Stockholm, Sweden
URL: https://leetify.com/

Our vision is to create the ecosystem where gamers go from amateur to pro

Right now, this is about giving both players and teams the tools they need to improve. Our software automatically analyses the replay files from matches you've played, we then compare your performance to data from over 2 million CS:GO players to determine what skills you need to work on to take your game to the next level. We'll then take you in-game, to help you practice on those skills in an efficient manner.

Long term, we will be expanding to other games, but we'll also use the data to help gamers in other ways, with the goal of allowing anyone to reach their gaming goals, regardless if that is going pro or just being the best out of your friends.

Our ambition is grand, but also tempered with a great market position, domain expertise and funding from some of the best investors in business.

You'll be one of the first employees at an exciting new startup that has been off to a great start and a critical part of our success, working on what is hopefully a passion project for you too.

About you:

You’ll be part of realising this ambition, and will be given both salary and stock options to match your efforts. We believe that you’re a talented full-stack developer that also has a keen eye for how to create products that customers love. Even though there’s a solid product roadmap established already, we believe you come full with ideas to add to it.

You're probably excited by the many unknowns in an early stage startup, and the opportunity that gives you to really make an impact and be part of some critical decisions that will shape the company.

We also think that you’re an avid gamer, maybe you’ve even tried your hand at playing in a competitive environment yourself. Even better if you have an undying love for CS:GO, but if not, we'll get to your game of choice eventually as well. But most of all, you want to help create an ecosystem where gamers can grow and be given the opportunity to make a career out of their passion.

We've built our service in JavaScript, and thus it's a requirement that you're well versed in JS and its satellite tech stacks.

It’s a big plus if you’ve worked in startups before, but not a requirement. We’re a fully remote team, and thus we're flexible on your location.

About the role:
  • We're a fully remote team based primarily in Europe, accepting applications from anyone within +-4 hours of the GMT time zone.
  • Full-stack developer proficient in JS
  • One of the first hires in an exciting new startup with some of the best investors
  • You'll make not only product and tech decisions, but also help build a new company and its culture. You'll leave a mark on our company that will be distinctly visible even when we're 1000+ employees, and this probably excites you.
  • Apart from implementing new features, you'll be listening to feedback from our active user base (among other places, on Discord) and keeping an eye on product metrics, to make sure you're making the right choices
  • There will be a ton of things needing to be done, but very few people to do them, so if you have a role in mind you're looking to grow into and the ambition to get there, this is the place for you.
  • This role has both salary and equity compensation.

We use
  • Node.js
  • Angular
  • PostgreSQL
  • K8S
  • Git

Our challenges:
  • Memory efficient code (loops within loops within loops)
  • Terabytes of inconsistent data
  • Write heavy, read heavy
  • Small team, big impact
  • Naming variables

Bonus points:
  • Experience handling infrastructure for big data applications
  • You're a beast in CS:GO
  • Previous startup experience
