  • Hours and schedule: 15 hours/week to start (we’re open to expanding the role to full-time for the right candidate). You’ll have lots of flexibility in which hours you work.
  • Compensation: $30/hr
  • Location: Work from anywhere (RescueTime has been all-remote since before Covid)

Here’s what your average day will look like:

Each day, you’ll assist people through our support channels (mostly a ticket system, but some live chat), lend a hand on Twitter and Facebook, and be on the lookout for opportunities to improve the customer experience.

Having successful customers isn’t just important to our business, but is a core part of the value RescueTime brings into the world. As a tech support rep, you’ll help smart people do more work that’s personally meaningful and important to them. It’s fulfilling but also demanding.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to support requests from our customers via our help desk platform, phone, live chat, and occasionally social media.
  • Pay attention to customer feedback and work directly with the rest of our CS team to improve our processes and product. Our customers have a lot to say and we need to absorb it.
  • Track customer support effectiveness by developing systems to help us understand how we’re responding to customers and track areas where we can improve.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to solve bugs and system issues affecting users.
  • Create and maintain our user knowledge base.

Who’s a good fit for this position?

You’ll be an ideal new coworker at RescueTime if you get satisfaction from:
  • Getting to the root of a customer’s problems and finding solutions that make them smile
  • Learning and mastering new software
  • Speaking up and being a part of a collaborative team
  • Being focused and efficient–support requests can occasionally pile up and we’re looking for someone who is organized and cool under occasional pressure
  • Finding more efficient ways to help our customers whether that’s through live chat or developing a library of templates for the most common customer issues
This is a front-line position with lots of direct interaction with our customers. You should be able to manage lots of conversations and be patient enough to deal with the occasional customer who is just having a really bad day.

You’ll need these qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience in a customer support/success capacity (ideally with lots of written and online interaction).
  • You’re a pro at diagnosing peculiar software issues and helping less (and sometimes more!) technical folks navigate their way to success.
  • A proven track record of efficient written communication
  • An even and cheerful temperament.
  • A fast and reliable internet connection, a quiet place to have occasional video calls, and a solid desktop/laptop computer (Mac or Windows).

It would be great if...

  • You’re excited about personal development–stuff like Fitbit, RescueTime, etc.
  • You are genuinely interested in fiddling with technology–software, hardware, mobile, desktop, you name it!
  • You’re a RescueTime user (or you are at least familiar with it)
  • You’re familiar with any of the other tools we use, like Slack, Google Docs, Help Scout, and Coda.
  • You have a keen interest in software usability.
  • You know how things work on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc) and have an interest in marketing and community management there.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team

We think solving the hard problems around meaningful work takes all sorts of perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.

How to apply

Send an email to hello@rescuetime.com with the subject line “Customer Support Representative”.

Please include a PDF resume or link to an online profile (LinkedIn) as well as a brief description of your most relevant experience. Also, be sure to tell us a bit about your availability. When can you start? Are you interested in part-time or full-time work?

  1. What new software have you used over the past 5 years that has changed how you work?
  2. If you were a CS rep at RescueTime and a customer requested a new feature that was on our roadmap, how would you reply?

URL: https://athemes.com

We are aThemes, a WordPress theme shop (we also blog about WordPress) and we are looking for an experienced WordPress developer to join us and help us take our products to the next level.

This is a fully remote position so you can work from anywhere in the world so long as your hours have some overlap with central Europe (i.e. at least 4 hours of your work day overlap with a typical 9-5 in central Europe).

Our major products are Sydney (100,000 active installs) and Airi (20,000 installs) as well as the premium versions (so Sydney Pro and Airi Pro).

Your focus will be on improving our major product offerings, and by that I mainly mean adding new features. An upcoming task we have for Sydney, for example, is to add basic Schema support. We have more ambitious features on our roadmap - this is just an example.

We also have a plan to release a new theme this year that will be Gutenberg-first. You would be expected to contribute, or maybe even lead, the development work on this project.

We are a small team and you will be primarily working alongside our current lead developer (as a kind of co-lead). You will also be working closely with me (Charlie, the founder), our product manager, a designer and support staff.

What You Will Do
  • Work with our team on adding new functionality to our themes/plugins
  • Update existing themes with new features and bug fixes
  • Suggest coding best practices
  • Stay up to date with the latest web standards and technologies and help us implement them in our themes/internal workflows
  • Work on new products (such as our upcoming Gutenberg-focussed theme that we hope to launch this year)
Requirements
  • At least 3 years working as a WordPress developer
  • Experience creating WordPress themes/plugins from scratch using best practices
  • Experience with GitHub
  • A modern approach to web development
  • Knowledge of Javascript, PHP and CSS preprocessors
Nice to have
  • Experience working with Gutenberg (e.g. creating custom blocks)
  • Knowledge of the upcoming Full Site Editing (FSE) in WordPress and its implications for themes
  • Experience working on a commercial WordPress project (theme or plugin)
Benefits
  • Get to work as part of a small team who are aiming to have a big impact on the world of WordPress
  • Large level of autonomy
  • Flexible schedule

We are looking to pay in the $30-$50 range and to start you will be working part-time hours (say 10-20 a week). If things go well we will up the hours to around 30 per week. If this role sounds of interest to you, please apply via this link: https://apply.workable.com/athemes/j/1C854467F4/

React Native Lead Developer

Ingles 19 days

Headquarters: Singapore
URL: http://www.getbravely.com

If you’re an experienced React Native developer who is passionate about mental health, startups, and working remotely — we’ve got the job for you.

We don’t believe in being stuck in a boring 9-to-5; clocking in and clocking out. We believe that a job you love is a job worth doing. We work with purpose and meaning — for ourselves, and for our users.

Bravely
is a small, young startup building a mental health solution that is desperately needed today (especially for 2020). We give people the ability to (a) track physiological factors that influence mental health, and (b) access evidence-based, therapy methods & psychology knowledge that is currently only found in dry, boring textbooks.

We’ll have fun, learn as we go, and build something we’re excited by. This is a chance to create something with the potential to help millions around the globe. We want someone we trust to join us in the driver’s seat, helping to steer Bravely towards its mission.

What working with us looks like:

  • We’re young, but ambitious — It’s still very early days for Bravely, but we know it’s the start of something epic. We know it’ll take hard work and learning to get there, but we’re absurdly passionate and stubbornly determined to build something that will help people around the world.
  • We’re always learning— Products never succeed in a silo. They’re only successes when they’re in the hands of people, and they don’t want to let go! We strive to always be learning; be it new research studies, constant user feedback, or a new design methodology.
  • We value teamwork & collaboration— They say Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it also wasn’t built alone. We work together, not apart in silos.
  • We value initiative —We’re not looking for mindless drones! The business is in everyone’s hands, not the select few. If you’ve opinions or feedback, we want to hear it.
  • We’re remote & flexible — We don’t believe in rigid work schedules or the old-school management method of watching your every move (rolls eyes). We don’t compromise on the things that matter (our values, our mission and our users), but we leave a lot of the rest up to you (your hours, your attire, etc.). The position is fully remote, so you have the flexibility to be wherever you need to be.
  • We value taking care of your mental health — It goes without saying that we value good mental health for everyone on the team. To quantify that: taking mental health days is not only allowed, but expected. Our flexible working policy means you’re free to schedule a therapy session for yourself in the middle of your work day, or arrange for your work day to fit around your needs.
  • We have fun too! — Work takes up way too much of your life to not have fun while working. We work hard, but we make sure we’re creating a healthy, friendly and fun work environment too. Team culture is something we never lose sight of.

What does the right person look like?

This is for the role of lead developer. You’ll be in charge of leading the development of the Bravely app together with designers and researchers.

You’ll have had prior experience building mobile apps with React Native. Any experience with leading the development of a product in a startup will be highly valuable. Any experience with psychology, therapy or mental health will also be helpful, but not necessary.

You should be responsible, proactive, and organised, with a personal belief in constantly improving and iterating. We want to explicitly state that you can be of any nationality, race, gender, sexual orientation or religion. The only requirement we have is for you to be open-minded and tolerant of anyone different to you. And if you’re the type to share funny video alongside thoughtful articles, we welcome you with open arms!

Bravely is fully bootstrapped. We’re on the lookout for someone to join us in the important lead developer role for SGD 5k / month. We aim to give vested stock options to our early founding members.

What skills and traits are we looking for?
  • A strong background of at least 3 years working with React Native. Experience with React on web would be ideal, but mobile is the definite priority.
  • Experience as a lead developer on digital products.
  • Someone who believes in user-research and design-led products.
  • Familiar with startup minded businesses — specifically with being lean, agile and to expect iterations with continuous user feedback.
  • Ability and ambitious to one day lead a development team.
  • Possession of a clear, organised workflow, who writes clean, well-maintained code.
  • An awesome attitude + no ego + team-player (no lone wolves).
  • Constantly learning and sharing knowledge + seeks out, appreciates and also returns feedback.
  • Experience with working remotely is ideal but not necessary.

How to apply

Apply by sending us an email at mel@getbravely.com. Please include a cover letter, portfolio, résumé as well as a quick video to introduce yourself and tell us why you want to join the team. We’re really excited to meet you! 🙂

Part-time Visual Designer/Illustrator

Ingles 20 days

Headquarters: Remote
URL: https://trydesignlab.com

Designlab is seeking a visual designer/illustrator to help us tell visual stories that educate and inspire our UI/UX design students and readers.

We're a nimble, product-driven team focused on building the best experience in the world for creative skills training, and thousands of students across the globe have already advanced their skills and changed careers with our help.

Our mission is to empower creators to do the work they love, and this extends to our culture and philosophy about work. Thanks to the quality of our product—rated best in class by reviewers at SwitchUp & Course Report—we’ve built a passionate community of students, mentors, alumni, and hiring managers.

As an Illustrator, the visuals you create will be used in our content and communications, such as on the blog, in emails, social media, and advertising. Our ideal candidate will have experience designing in Figma, or other design tools like Adobe Illustrator, and will have an exciting portfolio showcasing their visual design work.

How our team works

We are a fully remote team who largely works in an autonomous way; this allows room for creativity from you as the designer. In illustration briefs, we’ll give you either a summary of the content/communication or the actual copy, as well as any initial design thoughts we have, and you’d be able to take it from there. We want to see what you can do! After a first draft, you’ll work collaboratively with our communications team on any iterations required until everyone feels that the work represents our brand voice and the concept at hand.

On the note of brand voice, we work within a designated color palette and consistent set of style guidelines. We also already have a library of illustration assets/graphics that can be repurposed for designs you can create moving forward, so you won’t always have to start from scratch. That being said, we’re always open to new, creative design ideas to evolve our brand.

Responsibilities

This is a part time role requiring around 15 hours of work per week. Here’s what typical week of deliverables looks like:

  • 3 post header images
  • 2 email header images
  • Social media and advertising images as needed
  • Infographics, GIFs, or other interactive visual content as needed

Skills & Experience

  • You are a master at time management and never miss a deadline
  • You have excellent communication skills
  • You are able to create visually appealing illustrations according to a style guide
  • You have an excellent handle on typography, layout, and color
  • You are creative and skilled in a visual design software
  • You can take minimal guidance and run with it
  • You work quickly and efficiently to get the job done
  • (Bonus) You have experience creating GIFs and animations from scratch as well as animating existing assets

Perks:

  • Work from home (we’re a fully distributed team with members in NYC, Lisbon, and more)
  • Flexible hours (you set your own schedule)
  • Occasional in-person team retreats (public health guidelines permitting)
  • Work on an awesome product that’s innovating in the online education space and teaching people modern design skills all over the globe

How to apply

Apply via our applications page by 18:00 ET on Friday January 15th

We’ll contact you to let you know whether we’re moving forward with your application by the end of Friday January 22nd.

Customer Success Specialist

Ingles 22 days

Headquarters: Seattle, WA
URL: https://cleancatalog.com/

Salary
$27,000 annually. This is a 20/hour a week position.

Location
Fully remote. U.S.-based workers only.

Schedule
Flexible hours, but we'll expect you to work with us to set a schedule during U.S. working hours, and communicate when you'll be varying from that schedule.

Vacation/holidays
All federal holidays off, Christmas week off, plus three weeks of vacation.

Technology

We'll provide you with a MacBook Air, unless you want to use your own technology.

Opportunities for growth
We're a small company, and there will be a lot of opportunity for you to take on additional projects in areas that interest you — we're always open to pursuing good ideas.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience with a content management system like WordPress or Drupal.
  • Experience in a professional customer-facing role. (Internships count.)
  • Professional writing abilities. You'll need to be able to communicate efficiently with customers.
  • Very nice to have: experience working in higher-ed.

Primary Job Duties
  • We help colleges and universities take large documents like catalogs and student handbooks and convert them into a digital format. A large part of this job is assisting in that initial transition. Parts of it are automated, and you'll work on overseeing those. Other parts — like organizing pages and entering some content — you'll be doing manually. The manual part is generally more engaging than data entry, but we want to be up front that it's not super exciting but does require attention to detail.

  • Building out and providing support for content approval workflows.
  • Write and help build out dynamic help documentation.

About Us
We're a mission-driven company dedicated to providing affordable and best-in-class software for colleges in universities. We primarily provide course catalog, curriculum management, and student handbook software. We primarily work with community and technical colleges, HBCUs, and small liberal arts colleges.

Ingles 27 days

Headquarters: New York, NY

We're looking to grow our development team with some freelance developers with a passion for e-commerce, and we hope that's you!

Location: Remote (USA Only, must overlap working time with 10AM - 6PM ET)

Type:
Freelance, Contract

Experience: Mid-level

Compensation: DOE

You'll work closely with the team to help our clients launch highly functional, often complex Shopify stores. We work with clients who use themes from the theme store and design custom Shopify themes from the ground up. You'll have the opportunity to both help kickstart new businesses in the e-commerce space and optimize and redesign stores for established brands.

The workload is dependent upon project availability.

While this freelance role, a majority of our team is based in the Eastern time zone, so while you can work anywhere, your hours must overlap during our normal working hours of 10 AM - 6 PM ET.

Required Languages (min. 4-5 years)
  • HTML
  • CSS/SCSS
  • Javascript
  • Liquid (Shopify's templating language)

Preferred Technologies
  • Vue.js/React (We have projects in both so proficiencies in JS Frameworks are required, but one or the other applicable)
  • GraphQL
  • Node.js

Other Required Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of modern cross-browser HTML5+, ES6+ and CSS3+ (SCSS)

  • You'll be communicating directly with the client, so we want you to have excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with a distributed team. You must be comfortable with working remotely and communicating with the team regularly via Slack/video chat.
  • Experience with having fun at work. 2020 has been a tough-as-hell year so we try to take our breaks and get a laugh in when we can.
  • Experience working on several projects concurrently, so balancing an ever-changing workload in a fast-paced environment is key. While our goal is to prevent this from happening is does come up from time-to-time.

Full-stack developer w/Vue or React and Node - blockchain space

Ingles 29 days

Headquarters: New York | London
URL: https://www.delphidigital.io/

As part of our expansion, we are planning to build out a suite of dashboards, models and tools for our members and a cohort of exciting projects and are looking for developers to work with us on this.

If you are not technically familiar with blockchain based projects then no problem - it is not required. However some knowledge at least of what Ethereum is would be useful.

About the role:

You will be one of the first members of our development team working on greenfield projects directly alongside our CTO.

The process of building out a dashboard that's useful for our members looks like this:
  • Pull the data we need by integrating with a GraphQL API
  • Create or extend an existing Vue/React app to serve the frontend
  • Take the designs from the designer and leveraging charting libraries such as Highcharts, make something great
We are looking for highly motivated and experienced full-stack developers with experience of React, Vue or Node as being proficient at converting designs into CSS and markup.

The position requires strong technical expertise, enthusiasm and a desire not only to write good code, but also deliver value to us and our clients. The position is open to full-time remote developers based in Europe or Latin America.

Technical environment:

We iterate fast, releasing early and often but believe in modular, maintainable, reusable code. In order to stay agile, testing is something we apply lightly to projects in the early stages and more heavily once a project is stable.

Tools used: Vue, React, Nuxt, Node, SCSS, PostgreSQL

Benefits:

For those with an interest in the digital asset space you will have a front row seat to the emergence of decentralised finance - working alongside the best minds in the space and with the most exciting projects.

Flexible, remote working - work when you want as long as there's good overlap with our CTO (Europe based)

Requirements:

Perfect command of English (written and spoken)

Must have interest in blockchain or crypto projects and ideally be willing to be paid in some form of stablecoin such as USDC.

At this time a rolling monthly contract engagement is preferred but this could change over time. Full-time preferred, but part-time possible unless you already have a full-time job (no evenings and weekends workers).

To apply:
